Jordan, Anthony Charles (Tony) Age 62, of Shoreview, died suddenly and peacefully of an apparent heart attack while sleeping on June 1, 2015. The world has lost a fine and loving man. He cared deeply for his family, friends, employees and residents. Tony ("Bean" to those who knew him) was a funny and shy kid who grew into a beanpole in adolescence. He loved softball, track, racquetball, and cross-country skiing. He and brother Chris were an inseparable duo who enjoyed canoe trips, Twins games, and poker throughout their lives together. Tony made a life-changing journey to South and Central America in 1972. It was on this trip that he embraced a wide world view and became a committed vegetarian. After graduating from West High School and the University of Minnesota he became interested in the work his mother, Phyllis, was doing in Special Ed at District 916. It was there that Phyllis introduced him to the love of his life, Jeannie Monahan. Tony courted Jeannie in the most inventive ways and they were married on October 3rd, 1980. Jeannie and Tony launch-ed their Enrich Inc. group home business for developmentally disabled adults in 1990. Their business grew to include six homes for residents and live-in staff who are considered family. Tony and Jeannie adopted two wonderful children, Caitlin and Ryan, and had so much fun raising them. Summers were spent at their Forest Lake cottage playing water volleyball and hosting huge 4th of July parties. Winters were filled with x-country ski trips at Camp Jordan in Cloquet and trips to Florida. Tony loved to laugh, feed the birds, transform lawn into gardens or woodlands, and care for the people and dogs he loved. He was the "go to" guy for support, problem solving, home repairs and a good time. Jiminy Cricket was his guide. He carried his universe with a light and open heart. Tony was preceded in death by his father, Ross W. Jordan and is survived by his wife of 35 years Jeannie, daughter Caitlin (Shoreview); son Ryan (New Jersey); Mother Phyllis (Minneapolis); sisters Catherine Jordan (Steve Lick) and Melanie Jordan (David Warnest) of Minneapolis; brother Chris (Renee Lemieux) of White Bear Lake; cousins Craig Blacklock (Honey and Charis), Darrell, Steve and Greg Jordan, Judy Jordan Greene and Martha Horton (Tommy); mother-in-law Mary Monahan (Minneapolis); sister-in-law Pat Monahan; brother-in-law Larry Monahan (Maureen) and many nieces and nephews and devoted friends. A memorial service to celebrate Tony's life will be held on Saturday, June 6th at 3:00 p.m. at the First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, 900 Mt. Curve Avenue, Mpls 55403. Memorials are preferred to Enrich Inc. for the Disney Fund to make their residents' dreams come true.
