Moore Jerome T. "Jerry" Moore, 53, of Minneapolis, died peacefully at his home surrounded by family on Friday, August 15, 2003 after a courageous battle with cancer. Memorial services are 2:00 PM Wednesday, August 20, 2003 at the Park Methodist Church in Minneapolis with the Rev. Mark Horst officiating. Jerry was a Vietnam-era naval veteran and later sailed around the world on the USS Coral Sea as an instructor. He was a civil engineer (graduated 1972) and earned a second bachelor's degree and a masters degree in computer science in 1998. Jerry loved his life and lived it at full throttle. He was curious about everything and always had 4 or 5 books going at once. He had passions for sailing, golf, liberal politics, Native American history and causes, math, poetry and hiking in the Colorado Rockies. Jerry did not do things half way. He was a mentor and friend to several youth. He will be remembered for his intense personality, his honesty and integrity, his thorough, ordered, purposeful lifestyle, his off-beat sense of humor, his ferocious devotion to his wife, son, family and friends; and his deep evolving spirituality. Jerry's journey with cancer was lived with dignity, grace and with the same "burn the candle at both ends" energy. He taught us all how to live and love. He will be greatly missed. Survivors include his devoted wife and best friend, Jennifer; his beloved son, Aaron; mother, Mary Clare Moore; siblings, James (Mary Jane) Moore, Joseph (Bernice) Moore, John (Andrea) Moore and Maryanne (Hank) Dillon and Joanne (Clark) Dircz; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James E. Moore. Memorials are preferred to charity of the donor's choice.
