Knips, Gerald L. 5-22-29 to 4-22-15. Preceded in death by son, Chris (widow, Lenore Franzen) Knips. Survived by wife, Beverly; sister, Marjorie Eggen; daughters, Debbie Knips and Katie Knips Ladas; son, David (Laura) Knips, and stepchildren, Debbie (Dave) Dahlman, Dave (Koni) Thiede, Pat (Brad) Fox, Mike (Tracy) Thiede, Dan Thiede and Kathy Thiede, 20 grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren. Gerry's career spanned 22 years in banking followed by a second career in life insurance. Community, church and charity were important. Onetime president of the White Bear Lake Area Chamber of Commerce, activities at Hamline University, WCCO Good Neighbor Award, Hamline's Distinguished Service Award and an honorary member of the Piper Athletic Hall of Fame. Gerry graduated in a class of 9 from Adrian, MN and graduated from Hamline University. He was a member of the United states Air Force. Gerry loved golf - even though he hit the ball too short and too often - and sitting at the pool in Florida. Bev and Gerry reconnected at an all-school Adrian reunion and married in 1983, merging two families. Service will be held at Pax Christi Church, Eden Prairie on May 4, visitation at 10:00, service at 11:00. Memorials preferred to The Piper Athletic Assn., Hamline.
