Carpenter, Robin J. 61, died unexpectedly on April 13, 2015. A trailblazer in her professional life, Robin's diverse career included leadership roles at Burlington Northern Railroad, political and government work for Senator George McGovern, and entrepreneurship. As founder and Managing Partner at Evantage Consulting, Robin combined her interests in technology, customer experience design, and business performance. At Evantage, she shaped a tightly knit, award-winning company built on intelligence, pragmatism, compassion, and humor. She helped to form the local digital marketing community, serving as a founding board member of the now-thriving Minnesota Interactive Marketing Association. A board member of the Women's Health Leadership Trust, Robin was also deeply involved in the Women President's Organization. To her astonishment, she received the Woman Business Owner of the Year Award from the National Association of Women Business Owners-Minnesota (2009). Passionate about improving healthcare, she served on the boards of Health 2.0 Twin Cities and Starry Night Arts & Healing (Children's Hospital). Robin was a gifted mentor to many, helping to inspire and propel leaders everywhere she went. When not at work, she enjoyed cycling, playing bridge, reading, and relaxing with her cats. Most of all, she was a devoted daughter to Jan and Dean, a loving sister to her three younger brothers (Jeff, Scott, and Tim), and a doting aunt to six nieces and nephews (Lisa, Paul, Brian, Maddie, Muriel, and Hannah). Robin was preceded in death by her father Dean. A commemorative celebration will be held on Saturday, April 25, at the Woman's Club of Minneapolis (410 Oak Grove St., 55403): visitation starting at 3:00, celebration at 4:00, social thereafter. Memorials preferred to one of Robin's favorite non-profits: the Minnesota Opera, the University of Minnesota Veterinary Hospital, or the Golden Valley Humane Society.
