Borchers, Robert Edward Age 93, longtime resident of Edina and later Rose-ville, passed away peacefully March 18, 2015. Preceded in death by Lucille (his wife of 36 years), Marseille (Sally) (his second wife of 25 years), and brother Stan. Bob is survived by 3 children, Bill (Joan), Bob (Gail), and Debbie (Bill) Corcoran; 2 step-daughters, Suzanne Olson and Patricia Carden; 8 grandchildren, Peter (Kelly), Becky (Mike) Lindahl, Krista (Prescott) Phillips, Eric (Stephanie), Henry, Isaac, Kevin Corcoran, and Annie (Alex) Carges; 4 step grandchildren, Bradley (Debbie) Olson, Tahnee Praiswater, Nathan Carden, Courtney Carden; and 8 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Born in Chicago, he moved to Minnesota in 1960. Salesman for Tube Turns and later Rockwell Mfg. Co. President of the Engineers Club of Mpls. A USMC WWII combat veteran of Guadalcanal and the occupation of Japan. Yet even during the war, he was a strong, outspoken voice for the civil rights of Americans of Japanese descent, whom he felt were being unjustly held in relocation camps. Bob was a warm, caring, gregarious husband and father with a good sense of humor, and he always had a positive attitude. He was an active church member. He loved being with family and friends. He enjoyed telling stories, dancing, music, swimming, and sandy beaches. He especially loved dogs and had an unquenchable passion for sailing. He was loved by many and will be missed. Funeral Services to be held 2:00 p.m. Monday 3/23/15 at Christ Presbyterian Church, 6901 Norman-dale Blvd., Edina MN, with visitation 1 hr. prior to service.
