Delphine (Undem) Brakke

Brakke, Delphine (Undem) Age 89, passed away on January 6, in Luverne, MN. Delphine Kathryn Undem grew up in Rogers, ND and graduated from the University of Minnesota. She married W.J. (Bill) Brakke, and they settled in Luverne in 1950, a community that they loved and lived in for the rest of their lives. After raising four children, Del became a social worker, giving another dimension to her lifelong interest in helping people in need. For two decades, she gave hope to others facing challenging situations, including placing children in foster care in three Minnesota counties and aiding the families who stepped forward to give them homes. Whether it was as a community volunteer, parishioner, friend, or family member, Del used her extraordinary personal gifts in service to others. Selfless and dedicated, she was a role model for all who knew her. Del was preceded in death by her husband, Bill, in 2002. Survivors include children David (Mary Anne Mason) Brakke, Harrisonburg, VA; Susan (Bill) Jeska, Minnetonka; Tom (Sue) Brakke, Deephaven; and Linda (John) Zimmerman, Eden Prairie; ten grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services have been held. Memorials are preferred to the Luverne Area Community Foundation, Good Samaritan Society - Luverne, or St. Catherine's Catholic Church.
