Bowman Earl W. Bowman, Jr., 78, was born February 7, 1927. He died June 10, 2005. Earl was preceded in death by his father, Earl W. Bowman, Sr., mother, Edith Peery Bowman; brother, Henry Peery Bowman; infant daughter, Cheryl Diane and his wife, Jacqueline. He is survived by sisters, Alice Bowman Harness and Harriet Bowman Solomon; children, Wayne (Diane), Kimber Livingston and Scott (Phet); seven grandchildren and two great-grand children. Earl was a life long resident of Minneapolis. He graduated from Minneapolis Central High School and Macalester College in St. Paul. He played semi professional football with Minneapolis Bombers in the ‘50's and went on to enjoy a career centered around athletic and education. He also returned to Macalester College as Dean of Students. He went on to become the first African American President of a Minnesota Community College at Minneapolis Commun ity and Technical College where he was honored in August 2004 with the establishment of the "Earl W. Bowman Leaders of the Future Scholarship Fund" and the dedication of Earl W. Bowman Hall. Earl touched the lives of many young people in the Twin Cities and was an avid golfer right up until the time of his death. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 17, 11:30 am at Hennepin Avenue United Methodist Church, 511 Groveland Ave. in Mpls. with visitation at 10:00 am. A reception will be held at Mpls. Community and Technical College immediately following the internment at Ft. Snelling. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to the "Earl W.
