Alevizos, Bertha age 101-3/4 of Mpls, passed away in the Lord December 31, 2014. Bertha brought sunshine to others through her love of life, her family, her Greek heritage and her floral design business. She was born April 4, 1913 in Mpls to parents Aristomenis & Kalliope Psyhogios Alevizos who had emigrated from Greece in the early 1900's. Bertha graduated from Central High School in Mpls. After graduation she worked for her uncle Nick Phillips at the Curtis Hotel. She managed Radio City Florists as a floral designer at 12th & LaSalle in Mpls during the 1940's & 50's. In the 1960's she started her own floral design business from the family home. Bertha later moved the business to the President Apartments at 21st & Nicollet Ave where she continued Flowers By Miss Bertha until she sold it and retired at the age of 85. Bertha was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church and served as a Sunday School teacher. She was also a member of Senior Citizens. Bertha is preceded in death by her parents and siblings Katherine, Jack, George, Peter, Evelyn and Jim. She is survived by sister-in-law Glenna Alevizos; nephews Steven (Carol) of Honolulu, HI, Mark of Mpls; nieces Kally (Tom ) Youngdahl and Deanna both of Mpls; grandnieces Jennifer and Christine, Madeline and Sophia; numerous cousins in the US and Greece. Funeral service 11AM Friday, January 9th with visitation beginning at 10AM, St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church, 3450 Irving Ave. S., Mpls. A memorial luncheon will be held at the church immediately following the service. Interment Hillside Cemetery, St. Anthony. Memorials preferred to St. Mary's Greek Orthodox Church.
