Stenzel, Joseph Anthony Born on Friday, November 15, 1929, Joseph Anthony Stenzel passed peacefully in the loving presence of his wife, seven children, and many grandchildren on January 02, 2015. Our father will be remembered for his love of horticulture, music, travel with family, Bass Lake, and his many life accomplishments after graduation from Mapleton High School and St. John's University: his years as a scholar and seminarian as a young man seeking to live a life of work and service consistent with his moral principles; his service to our country in the United States Marine Corp; after obtaining his medical degree from the University of Minnesota School of medicine, his expert, kind, generous years as a medical doctor so very much appreciated by his patients in his group and solo practice of Family Medicine; his support of the Roman Catholic Church and its advocacy for God's gift of life with his active participation and generosity in the many parishes that he attended throughout his long life of service; and concurrent with all the very hard work required of each of these remarkable achievements, his unwavering capacity to express his commitment and love for each and every member of his immediate and extended family, which he referred to as his "olive plants," at any time we requested his loving presence. His olive plants by his wife, Mary Ann are many. His seven children: Joseph Stenzel (Catherine), Peter Somers (Kathy), Michael Stenzel, Mary Ellen Maness, James Stenzel (Laurie), Ann, and Holly Taynton (Christian); his thirteen actual and adopted grandchildren: Isaac, Skylar, Molly, Owan, Emily, Andrew, Jack, Becky, Joey, Sam, Avae, Oliver, and Lucia; his four great grandchildren: Autumn, James, Kira and Ruby Rose. He was preceded in death by Helena Fiyol, Felix and Mary Stenzel, Frank, Paul, and Barbara Fiyol, and Johanna Smith. His entire family welcomes any other person touched by his love, kindness, and dignity to join us as we celebrate his life from 4-7 PM (with prayer service at 7 PM) on Tuesday, January 6, 2015 at the Gearty-Delmore Funeral Chapel, 3888 West Broadway, Robbinsdale, and with a 1-hour visitation prior to a 10 AM Catholic Mass on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Church of the Sacred Heart, 4087 West Broadway Avenue, Robbinsdale. Private interment at Calvary Cemetery, Delavan, Minnesota. Gearty-Delmore 763-537-4511 gearty-delmore.com
