Douglas, Dr. David Lewis David Douglas, age 94, passed away Thursday, November 27 in Green Bay, WI David was born January 22, 1920 to Colonel Lewis Bradley Douglas & Hilda Douglas in Seattle, the older of 2 children. He was preceded in death by Frances Schulte Douglas, his wife of 61 years, his sister Mildred Douglas, and his grandson David Duff Correll. He is survived by his daughters, Margaret Correll (Bill) of Bella Vista, AR & Julia Douglas (Rick Satterlee) of Ashwaubenon, WI; grandchildren, Paul Satterlee & Anne Satterlee; brother-in-law Dr. John L. Mason; a niece & 6 nephews. David graduated from Manual Training High School (Brooklyn, NY) in 1939. His prominent recollection of the time was hearing Lou Gehrig's farewell address at Yankee Stadium. David went on to study Chemistry & Physics at Cal Tech achieving his PhD (Phi Beta Kappa) in 1950. He interrupted studies to serve in the US Air Force in WWII. In California David met his beautiful bride, Frances, and in 1948 they married in Pasadena. In 1950 David began a long career in electrical research & development at General Electric (Schenectady, NY & Lynn, MA), Gould National Battery (St. Paul, MN), and ultimately at the Electric Power Research Institute (Palo Alto). Some of his significant work included development of fuel cells for aerospace, mass battery storage for the electrical industry, and battery applications for Electric Vehicles. He was a dedicated fly fisherman, conservationist and an accomplished precision woodworker. David especially enjoyed sharing his love of nature with his family and friends. Interment will be at Lakewood Cemetery (Minneapolis). The family will have a private memorial service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the David Duff Correll Scholarship (nwaccfoundation.org).
