Bentzen, John D. age 68, of Brooklyn Center. Died peacefully after a battle with brain cancer surrounded by his family. Survived by his wife, Shirley; sons, Andy (Krissy) and Doug (Kelly); grandchildren, Drew, Ellie, Dallas, and Farah; mother, Eleanor Bentzen; brothers, Tom and Bob; also survived by many relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Bentzen. John served 41 years as a Brooklyn Center Fire Fighter, 38 years with the City of Brooklyn Center Public Works Department, youth hockey coach, supporter of Brooklyn Center Schools, and a recipient of the 1994 Public Safety Comminsioner Award of Honor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to friends and family. Funeral service 11AM Tuesday at Lutheran Church of the Master, 1200 69th Ave North. Visitation after 10AM at the CHURCH.
