Hughes, Harriet M. Age 95, formerly of Edina and Bloomington, MN. Harriet moved to California following the 1999 death of her beloved husband, Harold, to be near family. She is survived by daughters, Patricia and husband Jim Durr of Edmond, OK; and Mary and husband Dennis Dingman of Lafayette, CA. Survived also by 4 loving grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson; Patrick Ready and his son Camden of Charlotte, NC; Megan Durr-Giammona and husband Anthony of San Francisco, CA; Shannon and husband Kevin Koch of Grand Junction, CO; Brittany and husband Drew Beck of Delaware, OH. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members, who are spread out all over the country. Preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Harold Hughes, and their son, Dennis. Harold was Vice President and Advertising Director of the Minneapolis Star and Tribune. Following retirement from the paper, he and Harriet started Hughes Advertising. They met at the Star Tribune where they both worked. She thought he "was the cutest guy in the building". Harriet was very proud of her sisters, LaVerne Marquardt and Doris Stein, both of whom pre deceased her. She loved them and their families dearly. The family would especially like to thank Patty and Bob Baker for their long term support and care as well as Sue Mearkle for treating our family like her own. We would also like to express our gratitude to the care givers and staff of East Bay Hospice and Walnut Creek Senior Living for their kind and gentle care during the last months of Harriet's life. A funeral Mass will take place at St. Patrick's Catholic Church Chapel (6820 St. Patrick's Lane, Edina) Friday, Oct. 17 at 11AM, visitation 1/2 hour prior to Mass only.
