Nelson, Beverly Joan age 83, of New Hope, MN died peacefully on Monday, September 22, 2014 at North Ridge Care Center, New Hope, MN surrounded by her family. The Funeral services will be held at Johnson Funeral Service in Thief River Falls, MN on Friday, September 26, 2014 with Reverend John Golv officiating. The visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M. with the funeral following at 3:00 P.M. Afterwards refreshments will be served. Following services, Beverly will be laid to rest in Greenwood Cemetery in Strathcona, MN. Beverly Joan (Anderson) Nelson was born on December 28, 1930, at home in Gatzke, Minnesota, to the late John Lind and Margaret (Blawd) Anderson. She was baptized at home, a child of God, marked with the cross of Christ forever, and confirmed at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, Minnesota. She attended the Bungalow School at Mud Lake and the Silverton School at Thief River Falls, before moving to Middle River in 1937 with her parents and her brother, Jack, where she continued her education and graduated from Middle River High School in 1948.She attended the College of Medical Technology in Minneapolis, MN and was employed at St. Luke's Hospital in Thief River Falls. She was united in marriage to Roy Nelson on November 25, 1950 at First Lutheran Church in Middle River, and they resided in the Minneapolis area, (Crystal, Hamlake, and Cambridge), for 50 years. In 1999 they returned to Middle River to spend their retirement years. Beverly's working life included employment at Honeywell, Hennepin County Libraries and Technical Center, and assisting her self-employed husband with his vending company. She was deeply committed to her family and had wonderful memories of the happy times they shared, the tears and the laughter. Bev was a long time member of the Chaparral Poetry Writers group, and was an award winning writer. She enjoyed hugs, long walks, the ocean, fall weather, music jams, crossword puzzles, and animals, especially dogs and cats. Beverly is survived by her daughter Carol (Terry) Zenger and her son Douglas (Corrine) Nelson. She is also survived by four grandsons, John (Amy), Cory and Luke Zenger, Ryan Nelson, and a great-granddaughter Jordan Zenger, and several nephews and cousins.
