Niklaus, Dawna Heaven is a brighter place today, because it now holds the radiant soul of Dawna Niklaus, whose life made our world a brighter, kinder, and more loving place. Dawna left us on September 19, 2014, after a courageous 10-year battle with Cancer. She was 69 years young. Dawna was pre-deceased by her parents, Christ R. and Bertha D. Niklaus. She grew up in Pennsylvania, lived for several years in Minneapolis, MN and moved to South Carolina in the 1980's, bringing with her a passionate love of life, and was in perpetual motion with dancing, biking, piano playing, celebrating Christmas, visiting Paris, enjoying Lake Harriet, walking every beach, and shopping! Her sky-blue eyes and sandy hair added a special radiance to her energetic lifestyle. Professionally, Dawna was first a teacher, and then a long-time realtor. Her integrity in business was exceeded only by her truly caring spirit toward all she served. She firmly believed in living life fully, treating others fairly, and passionately welcoming each new day. Dawna is survived by her sister Bobbi; nieces Laurie, Danielle, and Becky; grand nephews Jacob, Nicholas and Tripp; grand nieces Kelsey, Gabriella and Emma; and her beloved dog, Noelle, who remained at her side throughout her illness. She wanted to acknowledge the special care given to her by her sister Bobbi, her dear friends Mary Jo, Annewynn, and Lin, as well as Alice, Claudine, Mary, Miriam, Teri (Noelle's caretaker), and devoted caregivers Yvonne, Aimee, Audrey, Ann, and Shannon. Also, she offered thanks to Dr. Jennings, Dr. Kurent, and the nurses at Lutheran Hospice. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 5900 Core Road, Suite 504, North Charleston, SC 29406, or Lutheran Hospice, 1885 Rifle Range Road, Suite 46, Mt. Pleasant, SC 29464. Dawna requested that a very festive celebration of her life be held with lots of her favorite music and, of course, lots of chocolate. The celebration in honor of Dawna's love of all things Christmas will be held sometime in early December. Date to be announced. ARRANGEMENTS BY J.
