Phillips, Kelly L. 48, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, formerly of Mason City, died Monday (August 11, 2014) in Minneapolis, Minnesota. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Saturday (August 16, 2014) at Epiphany Parish-Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams,, Mason City, with Rev. Neil Manternach, Rev. Bob McAleer, and Rev. Kenneth Gehling, officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City, IA. Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday (August 15, 2014) at Holy Family Catholic Church, 714 N. Adams, Mason City. Memorials may be given to the Kelly Phillips memorial fund in care of his family. Kelly Lee Phillips was born September 23, 1965 at Mason City, IA a son of Jim and Judy (McAleer) Phillips. He attended school at Renville, Minnesota and was a 1984 graduate of Newman Catholic High School, Mason City. He received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa, and was a graduate of the University Of Iowa College Of Law, where he was the class valedictorian. Kelly was Vice President and Chief Counsel-Worldwide Businesses at Boston Scientific Corporation, Minneapolis. Kelly purchased and restored an historic office building near downtown Minneapolis, developing it into commercial and residential spaces. He was a member of the Minnesota Bar Association and its Health Law Section. He also served on the AdvaMed Legal Committee, representing Boston Scientific. Kelly was actively involved in Boston Scientific's PACE ERG ("People Accepting and Celebrating Equality" Employee Resource Group.) He also supported the Human Rights Campaign and Minnesotans United. He was a past member of the National Lawyers Association and the Marcy-Holmes Neighborhood Association (Board Member, Executive Committee-Secretary, Treasurer, and on their Land Use Committee). He enjoyed traveling, especially internationally. Survivors include his parents, Jim and Judy Phillips, Mason City; fiancé, Nathon Bailey, Minneapolis, MN, and his family, Carlton, MN; brothers and sister, Bob Phillips, Chaska, MN, Bill (Adele) Phillips, Mason City, Kim (Jake) Frank, Cedar Rapids, John (Cara) Phillips, Kansas City, MO; nieces and nephews, Amber Phillips, Marissa Phillips, Abby Phillips, Halle Phillips, Jack Phillips, Griffin Frank, and Cooper Frank; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and his Boston Terrier, Vivian.
