Scott, Ian Edward age 47 of Golden Valley died on Sunday December 10, 2017 after living with cancer for 5 years. He died peacefully at home. He is survived by his wife, Melissa (nee Gilboe); children, Henry (17) and Georgia (14); mother, Linda; brothers, Michael (Nicky) and Colin (Karen); nieces and nephews, Neve, Erin, Will, Jack, and Quinn. He was preceded in death by his father Dr. Edward Scott, and his grandparents Elsa and James Scott and Jean and Robert Rule. Ian was born in Burlington Iowa and grew up in Dubuque Iowa, graduating from Dubuque Senior High. He attended the University of Iowa for two years, where he met his wife, Melissa. He then attended Iowa State University where he found his passion in architecture. He began his architecture career in Des Moines. After proposing to his wife on a crowded bus in Niger, West Africa, the couple moved to Minneapolis. Highlights of his professional career include co-owning Serrano Scott Design for many years and being a design principal at RSP. Ian loved his family immensely. He also loved fires, good design, fishing, sailing, running, tennis, traveling, and finding new great restaurants and hotels to experience. He knew a lot about many diverse topics including but not limited to, race car driving, rap music, any sport, animals, popular culture, obscure indie bands, high end couture, watches, hand made axes, literature, and roasting chickens over an open fire. He lived fully, not allowing fighting cancer to stop him from enjoying his family, taking vacations and working in the profession he loved. A visitation will be held 5-7PM on Friday, December 15 at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1900 Nicollet Ave. S., Minneapolis. Memorial service will be held 10AM on Saturday, December 16 at the Lakewood Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave. S., Minneapolis with visitation 30 minutes prior.
