Virginia (Huntley) Reeves

Reeves, Virginia (Huntley) age 98, departed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on November 25, 2017. Virginia "Ginny" was born on June 15, 1919 in Minneapolis. She grew up near Lake Harriet and attended West High School and the University of Minnesota where she graduated in education and was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. Following a brief teaching career, she married John O. Reeves in 1942 and they started their family. While raising her children, she created Mrs. Reeves' Nursery School in her home in Southwest Minneapolis. Virginia will be remembered for the loving care she gave her family and friends, her wonderful sense of humor and contagious laugh. She also loved her many books and took great joy in the beauty of Nature. Her home of 54 years was a joyful gathering place for family and friends. Virginia was preceded in death by parents, Rhea and Burton Huntley; her husband, John O. Reeves; son, Douglas H. Reeves; sister, Shirley Lund; and grandson, Michael Blesi. Survived by children Mary Schuster, Carolyn Reeves Blesi and Jay Reeves (Nancy Raschka-Reeves); grandchildren, Sally Matchette, Dan (Angie) Schuster, John (Matt) Schuster, Matt Blesi (Robin Whitt), Spencer Blesi (Kelly O'Loughlin), Ben Reeves, Doug (Hayley) Reeves and Joe Reeves (Lindsey Strange); and great-grandchildren, Emily, Owen, Erin, Jaden, Sarah, Sam, Beckett, Lily and Ozzie. A celebration of Virginia's life will be on Wednesday, Dec. 20 at 1 pm at Walker Place Chapel, 3701 Bryant Ave. S., Mpls, 612-827-8500.
