Wickesberg, Albert K. April 2, 1921- December 3, 2017. Albert Wickesberg grew up in Appleton, WI, where he graduated from Lawrence University (class of 1943) before proudly serving in the Army during WWII. After the war, he received his MBA at Stanford Business School, followed by his PhD at Ohio State University. He left behind an early career in private business to pursue his academic passion, becoming a professor of Business Administration at the University of Minnesota where he taught in the graduate school for 30 years. A talented and accomplished flutist, Albert decided against a career in performance, but he continued to play beautifully well into his senior years and cultivated a life-long love of music. Al approached life always with kindness, compassion, and humor. He maintained a deep respect for nature, and a great appreciation for the arts, education, and charitable giving. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Dorothy; father, Albert H.; mother, Lydia, and daughter-in-law, Susan. He is survived by sons, Robert, William (Colleen), and James (Cort); grandchildren, Andrew (Katie), Laura, Brandon (Jen), and Grant (Chelsea); great-grandsons, Max, Eli, and Luca. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Minnesota Orchestra, or Lawrence University (Wickesberg Family Scholarship). Memorial service 2:00 PM Friday, December 29 at Lakewood Chapel, 3600 Hennepin Ave. S., Mpls. Visitation beginning at 1:30 PM. Private family inurnment Lakewood Cemetery.
