Alexander, Jane Frances (Cook) Died on Nov. 17, 2017. Born on December 29, 1921 she was raised in Farmington, MN. She was the daughter of the late Bertram and Mary (Ryan) Cook. A graduate of the University of Minnesota she moved to Los Angeles where she taught Home Economics. She married and moved to Hartford. She worked at the Royal Typewriter Co. and was a State of Connecticut Social Worker for 26 years until her retirement. In her retirement she worked at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was a talented seamstress and made custom items for the homes of friends and family. She created a beautiful wedding gown for one of her granddaughters and created baptismal gowns for her church for many years. She also loved ceramics as well as stained glass. Jane was also a talented cook and baker and prided herself on her trays of Christmas cookies and peanut butter cups during the holidays. She loved to travel and visited Ireland many times as well as Russia, France, Germany, England and Belgium. She loved planting flowers and vegetables in the spring, playing cards, fishing and taking long walks. She treasured preparing dinners for her family, enjoying their company and giving them gifts she made from her many hobbies. She moved to Southington from East Hartford in 1998. She is survived by a daughter, Marilyn Lauf (Charles) of East Hartford, and a son, David (Donna) Alexander of Southington. She was predeceased by her husband, Edmond Alexander and a son, Edmond Alexander, Jr. She also leaves 5 grandchildren, Donna (James) Kervin, Charles Lauf, Lori Lynn, Michael Alexander and Elizabeth Alexander as well as 7 great-grandchildren. She was the third of eight children; Earl, Helen, Richard, Gerald and Eleanor and is survived by brothers Howard and Roger. The family would like to thank the staff at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center for the excellent care and attention they provided Jane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, December 4 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis of Assisi in South Windsor. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Hartford, CT.
