O'Laughlin, James Patrick Age 91 of Bloomington, MN, died Friday, October 20, 2017. Born in Evanston, IL on February 15, 1926 to John E. and Anna Mae (Wynn) O'Laughlin. He was a graduate of Spalding Institute (Class of 1943) and attended Bradley University, both in Peoria, IL. Jim was a veteran of WWII, New Guinea Campaign, member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree, and VFW McClay Post #1246. His career was in sales, and at 60 he became a postal letter carrier until his retirement. He was an avid sports fan, loved doing newspaper crossword puzzles, playing golf, reading, and enjoying happy hour with his KofC friends. Jim was extremely proud of his Irish heritage, and often quipped that he had the curse of the Irish-- being "good looking and humble". But above all, nothing was more important to him than family and faith. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, son James Jr., brothers John, William, George, and sister Mary Jane. Survived by Rheta, beloved wife of 69 years, daughters Maureen of Milwaukee, Katie Erickson (James) of Eagan, Maggie Thelen (Neil) of Eagan, grandchildren Ryan Czeszynski, Alanna and Mackenzie Thelen, and 40 nieces and nephews whom he dearly loved. Funeral Mass at the Church of the Assumption, 305 East 77th Street, Richfield, MN on Thursday, October 26 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation one hour prior to the Mass.
