Jean C. Saxton

Saxton, Jean C. age 87, of Fridley, passed away peacefully October 4, 2017 in San Diego surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by husband Bill on February 29, 1972, sister Eileen Kappauf, and parents Fred and Hilda Hagen, immigrants from Norway. A graduate of University of Minnesota, Jean led life with a smile despite the passing of Bill far too soon. She was an accomplished artist and lifelong student. She earned blackbelt in Taekwondo at age 75 and took adult classes ranging from African drumming to violin to Spanish as second language. Jean recently completed illustrations for a children's book. She gave back to her beloved community as a volunteer at church and local schools teaching children to read. Survived by twin sister Joan Jansen, daughter Michelle (Brad) Hyldahl, grandchildren Mikayla Kuhn and Olin Hyldahl of San Diego, and many friends and neighbors. Celebration of Life October 28, 2017 at Fridley United Methodist Church 680 Mississippi St. Visitation 3:00pm followed by 4:00pm Service. Interment Hillside Cemetery.
