Loomis, JoAnne age 85 of Minneapolis, MN passed away into eternal life on Wednesday, Sept. 20th. She grew up in Black River Falls, WI. She settled in Minneapolis becoming a life-long NE resident. She was a second mom to many of her children's friends. She was a strong advocate for literacy and education, an avid reader and crossword puzzle enthusiast. Joanne was beloved by her children, grandchildren, family, friends, and everyone else who knew her or had simple contact with her. She had an infectious, lovable personality, and always put the welfare of others ahead of her own. Her children never met anyone who didn't think the world of her. The Lord took her home, just minutes after she was anointed by Father John Brandes. Her daughter was there for her last breath. Throughout the last 5 years of her life, there were many challenges to her health, but she persevered. Her family always made sure she was cared for, enjoyed daily visits with her, and taking her on occasional outings. We also give special thanks to the amazing staff at Catholic Eldercare on Main for their kind and attentive care. She is preceded in death by husband Richard, son Ross, brothers Jim and Earl, and sister Norma. She is with them now in heaven. She is survived by daughter Ian (Greg), son David (Deb), son Gary (Betty), daughter-in-law Gerri, grandsons Damian and Ryan, and her sister, Lucille Resch. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 AM Friday, September 29 with visitation 1 hour prior at St. Anthony of Padua Chapel of Catholic Eldercare, 813 Main St. NE.
