McDonald, Charlotte (Cutler) Asked recently, 'How are you doing?'... Char paused and responded...,"Well, I'm not all here right now, but I'll be back...". her wit sharpened with age. Charlotte Winifred (Cutler) McDonald 91, died peacefully Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Mount Olivet Careview Home in Minneapolis. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert Neil McDonald and her parents, Benjamin Harrison and Nora Mildred (Beach) Cutler. She is survived by her son Thomas (Stephanie) McDonald; daughter Joan (Dan) Arbach; grandson Kyle Meyers; granddaughter Dr. Natalie (Dean) Huls; and her beloved cat, Oscar. Born in Cayuga, North Dakota in 1926 she liked to tell people she was delivered premature, placed in a bassinet on an open oven door and fed Eagle Brand condensed milk to make up for her early start in life. She survived and grew up on the Dakota plains graduating high school at age 16. She attended Northern State Teachers College in Aberdeen, SD before graduating from what became North Dakota State University, Fargo. She worked variously in administrative positions and most recently as a health unit coordinator at Saint John's Hospital in Maplewood. She retired in 2009 at age 83. A voracious reader, Char consumed books and read the Minneapolis Star Tribune cover to cover daily. She had a warm spot in her heart for all animals, but held a special affinity for cats. She married the love of her life, Bob, in April of 1948. Those who knew her said she was drawn to the excitement Bob brought to her life. They lived in Fargo, Grand Forks and Sioux Falls before settling in the Twin Cities. No service will be held. Any memorial consideration could be sent to Vision Loss Resources (Mpls) and Animal Humane Society (Golden Valley) Gill Brothers 612-861-6088 gillbrothers.com
