May, Walter Fred was born in Akron, Ohio on January 10, 1920 and died on August 21, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 at 11 AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, St. Michael, MN with visitation one hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday. Interment St. Michael Cemetery, St. Michael. He graduated from Hower Trade School and Central High School in Akron before beginning his trade as a machinist. Walt served in the US Army Air Corps and was injured during WWII. After the war, he returned to machinist work, milk sales and finally to a linen supply company. He married Tillie Marshall in 1946 and together they raised four children. Scouting and church work were major activities in his family life. In 1974, Tillie was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and soon needed Walt's full-time care. Walt and Tillie moved to St. Michael, MN in 1983 where their children could help him care for Tillie until her death in 1994. Walt loved sailing on Minnesota lakes and continued serving his church as long as he could. He had a servant's heart, caring attitude and gentle nature and loved his church, family and community. He is survived by his children, Terri (Ron) Moore, Vernie May, and George (Connie) May, as well as grandchildren, Mat, Andrew, Elise and Jeff Moore, and great-grandchildren, Talia and Sylvia Moore.
