Mary Lou (Soule) Sundberg

Sundberg, Mary Lou (nee Soule) age 88, of Mound, recently of Chaska, passed peacefully surrounded by family on August 16, 2017. She is preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, Bill (Marion) Soule, Jack (Shirley) Soule, Frederick "Fritz" (Marilyn) Soule, and Jim (Nan) Soule. Survived by husband of 68 years, Ronald; sons, David (Carol), Charles (Debra), Steven (Babs), James (Margaret), and Daniel; grandchildren, Christina, Katherine, Kylie, David, Diana, Gregory, Jonathan, Spencer, and Nicholas; and many great grandchildren. Mary Lou graduated from Mound Consolidated High School in 1947. Shortly after, she started dating Ron, a local boy she had known casually as a friend of her brothers. After a year-long courtship, they married on August 17, 1949. Together they began a family in Mound and eventually moved to Aberdeen, SD and Waterloo, IA. However, Mary Lou's heart was pulling her back to Mound to give her boys a childhood around the lake. In her 40's she returned to school and received her LPN. She worked 21 years at Haven Homes in Maple Plain. In retirement, she enjoyed various groups and activities at Bethel, social outings with her friends, and she was forever on the lookout for somebody to take her to lunch. Mary Lou will be remembered by her friends and family for her energy, humor, and zest for life. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, August 22 at 11:00am with a visitation one-hour prior at Bethel United Methodist, 2116 Commerce Blvd, Mound.
