Allen, David P. age 57, of Columbia Heights, left us suddenly Saturday, August 5th following an accident at his beloved lake home. Preceded in death by his very special grandmother, Margaret Boudreaux and youngest sister, Michele Hart. So very missed by wife, Irene; daughters, Christy Allen of NYC and Tabetha (John) Simpson of South St. Paul; the girls' mother & David's former wife, Joni Sprangers; nephews, Richie and Jake Hart; grandchildren, Noah, Eilidh, Eowyn, Sam and Isla; brother, Michael Allen (Kristi) & his family; nephew, Steven (Bryanna); sisters-in-law, Helen and Olga Bestilny; niece, Sara (Josh) Toavs of Billings, MT; other family, and countless friends. Preceded by his own reputation. Grew up mainly on the North Side and worked from an early age nearly everywhere: restaurants, bars, most recently Star Tribune, LaRive Condominiums, Augustana-Mpls/Moose Lake. Owned and operated his own business, Twin City Lock, for many years. Amazing cook (just get out of his way), talented locksmith (don't yap or look over his shoulder please), self-taught musician/guitarist, blues singer, motorcycle enthusiast, gardener and pool player extraordinaire, could fix just about anything, but had no reservations about stepping away if something was beyond his expertise. He was semi-content in the city, but the beauty of the woods and lakes where he could hunt and fish called to him daily. Thank you to all friends and family who are helping us through this devastating loss. Your presence, hugs, prayers, gifts of food have kept us going. Life Celebration Thursday, August 10, gathering 1:00 PM, Service 2:00 PM, Sharing of Memories 2:30 PM in the Great Hall at Silverwood Park, 2500 County Road E, St. Anthony, MN.
