Post, Richard Age 97 passed away peacefully on June 30th. Survived by wife of over 73 years, Ginnie; daughter, Susan Rech; Sons, Richard (Randy) and Tom(Jennifer); grandchildren, Kristi (Juan Rivera), Bryan (Gretchen), Alan (Emily), Lauren, Taylor, Amy, and Julia; and great grandchildren, Hunter and Verity. Preceded in death by son, Mike (Deb), son-in-law, Bruce Rech, MD, and daughter-in-law, Sandy (Richard). Above all else Dick was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and friend. His family and friends will always remember their time together at the family home on Spider Lake WI where Dick and Ginnie taught multiple generations how to fish and enjoy each others company. Dick was a prominent twin cities attorney for over 66 years. After graduating from the University of Minnesota Law School (Law Review) in 1946, Dick became one of the first in-house lawyers to be retained by 3M. Dick represented 3M in antitrust, international law, and other legal matters for 23 years. As 3M participated in the Post WWII recovery Dick traveled the US and world on business where he made numerous contributions and developed many friendships. Dick also served as General Counsel and Corporate Secretary for Honeywell and maintained a private practice his entire career. Dick took great pride in being a lawyer and sought to advance his profession. He served as: chairman MN Chapter ABA Young Lawyers Section; a charter member ABA Antitrust Section; chairman Patent, Trademark, and Know-How subcommittee ABA Antitrust Section; a member of the prestigious joint subcommittee of the ABA Antitrust and International Law Sections; a founding member of the Labor Law Section of the Minnesota State Bar Association; and a founding member and 2nd chairman of the Corporate Counsel Association. Dick also made time to serve on the board of directors of Goodwill Industries (two term president), Bush Foundation, and for two decades Courage Foundation (two term president). Dick lived a full life in exciting and challenging times. He was born in 1920 in Barron WI and received, as he often observed, "a high caliber education" in his hometown of Rice Lake WI. Dick believed the lessons learned growing up during the Great Depression were invaluable to him. Dick embraced the joys and challenges of his time and will always be remembered as an exceptional family man, friend, lawyer, and fisherman.
