Abicht, Ronald W. of Burnsville, MN passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017 at the age of 84. He was preceded in death by parents Edmund and Veronica Abicht, brothers Robert, James, Richard, Dennis. A proud and loving husband, father and grandfather, he is survived by Nancy, his wife of 59 years, children Anne Abicht (Dennis Lorsung), Jane Abicht, Lisa Abicht-Swensen (Scott Swensen), Mark Abicht (MaryAnn), beloved grandchildren Elizabeth, Erin, Nicole, Lindsey Swensen. Survived by sisters Joan Schmitz, Rita Cockrell, sister-in-law Judy Tschumper, special niece Jennifer Byers (Rich), numerous nieces and nephews. A proud Marine, Ronald was born in LaCrosse, WI, attended Aquinas High School and graduated from St. Mary's College, in Winona, MN. He was employed by Unisys for 35 years as a system design engineer. Upon retirement he traveled the country with Nancy in their motorhome. A handyman, mechanic and tinkerer, he enjoyed the challenge of fixing things. He always had an idea of how to get things fixed, and it always worked! His gift of volunteerism to organizations included the Burnsville Planning Commission (1989-98), St. John's School Board, and B. Robert Lewis House. He was a Charter member and Board member of the Burnsville Breakfast Rotary Club for many years and President of the noon Rotary Club. Ron was an active member of the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Savage, MN for more than 55 years. Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 19, 2017 from 5:00 8:00 p.m. at ST. JOHN THE BAPTIST CHURCH ATRIUM. The funeral Mass will be Thursday, July 20, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Church with visitation at 10:00 a.m. Donations in Ron's memory can be made to St. John the Baptist School.
