Maloney, James "Jim" age 86, of Edina, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, July 9, with family at his side. Jim was born in Estherville, Iowa and is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Myrna (née Henaman); parents Vincent and Hallie Maloney; sisters Theris (Clifford) Gill, Marcella (Stan) Brewster, Sheila Maloney, Mattie Ann (Richard) Kay & Patricia (Bud) Lane. Jim is survived by daughters Barbara (Mike) Spece, Venice, FL; Bridget Maloney, Edina; Catherine Weikert (Doug), Collegeville, PA; Myrna (Jim) Flynn, Northampton, MA; & sons Vincent (Jody), New Prague; Joseph (Rita), Chanhassen; Kevin (Mary Jo), Eden Prairie; & special family member Linda Maloney. Jim was a loving grandfather of 15 grandchildren & 19 great-grand-children. He is also survived by his brother Mike, sister Virginia (Lloyd) Dokter & many nieces & nephews. Jim proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, 1949-52. He owned & operated Minikahda Mobil service station at France & Excelsior in St. Louis Park for 38 years. After retirement, Jim devoted extensive time to his family, golf, foreign travel, reading and to his church, St. Patrick's of Edina. As a parishioner, he attended daily Mass and served as a sacristan & Eucharistic minister; he also enjoyed volunteering at the annual parish garage sale. The times he enjoyed most were those spent with family & friends. Mass of Christian Burial 10 AM on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at the Church of St. Patrick, 6820 St. Patrick's Lane in Edina, with visitation one hour prior. Interment Fort Snelling National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sharing and Caring Hands (sharingandcaringhands.org).
