Marshall, Harry Jay (69) of La Crosse, WI, formerly of Chanhassen, MN, died peacefully Sunday June 18, 2017 at Gundersen Health Center. He was born November 9, 1947 at Camp Campbell, KY to Harry and Shirley (Austin) Marshall. Harry graduated from Central High School in 1965 and MIT in 1969. He married Jane Knowles in 1969 and they moved to Madison where he worked as a specialist in the Space Science and Engineering Dept. of University of WI. He served in the US Army Reserves from 1970 to 1976. In 1976 he graduated from Columbia Medical School. He and Jane later divorced, but they remained good friends. In 1983, he married Sue Merwin. They moved to La Crosse where he joined Gunder-sen Clinic as a pediatrician. Together they have 2 daughters: Lindsay Anne Marshall and Margaret Elizabeth Marshall. In 1993, Harry and his family moved to Chanhassen, MN where he was a pediatrician with Mound Medical Clinic and then Southlake Pediatrics in Minnetonka. He and Sue later divorced, but they too remain good friends. Harry retired from practicing medicine in 2011, but continued his love of medicine by teaching at Argosy University. In the fall of 2016, Harry returned to his hometown of La Crosse. Harry enjoyed spending time with his 2 cats, Samantha and Missy, watching classic TV shows, listening to Jazz music and he always enjoyed cooking. He was an avid Science Fiction reader and collector. He always had a passion for anything British or Scottish. He is survived by his 2 daughters: Lindsay Anne Marshall of Baudette, MN and Margaret Elizabeth Marshall of Seattle WA. He is further survived by his brother Scott (Pat) Marshall of Holmen, sisters Connie (Gary) Troyanek and Mary Marshall both of La Crosse, and Carol (Scott) Blevins of Flower Mound, TX; his former wives Sue Marshall, Chaska, MN, and Jane Marshall of New Haven, CT and close friend Cheryl Sowl of Bloomington, MN. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a niece Stephanie Marshall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Children's Miracle Network. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, July 1, 2017 at Dickinson Family Funeral Home (1425 Jackson St., La Crosse) at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with the family one hour prior.
