Gulbrandsen, Lois Ann (Evans) 86, died Monday, June 19, at Rice Memorial Hospital in Willmar. Lois was born in Appleton, Minnesota, the daughter of Luther and Ella (Beyer) Evans. They moved to Willmar soon after, where she grew up and graduated from Willmar High School. "Butchie", as she was known to all, met the love of her life, Bill, while both were bridesmaid and groomsman in their friends' wedding. They were married in 1952 and blessed with three children. They celebrated 60 years of marriage shortly before Bill's death in 2012. Lois was an active member of Vinje Lutheran Church for over 65 years, involved with Meals on Wheels, Deaconess, Altar Guild, and Circle. An active person in the community, Lois always found time to do more for people. Lois loved her friends, her bridge clubs, and study clubs. She kept track of it all with a daily diary starting in 1961 and never missed a day. She loved to travel with Bill -- whether it was a sunny getaway, a cruise, or travel abroad. But her favorite vacations were the fishing trips to Canada with special friends and family. She always made her home open to all and was the ultimate hostess. She loved entertaining and the two of them made a great couple doing it. Lois is survived by children Dr. Stephen (and Pat) Gulbrandsen of Victoria, Kristin Gulbrandsen of Willmar, Kari (and Greg) King of Plymouth, and brother Douglas (Judy) Evans of Maple Grove. Also surviving are her four grandchildren, Erik (and Laura) Gulbrandsen, Anna Gulbrandsen, Bjorn and Leif King; two great grandchildren, Kristian and Henrik Gulbrandsen; and nephews Jason (Holly) Evans, Chad (Tina) Evans, Matt (Cheryl) Evans, and David (Susan) Porter. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Bob, and husband Bill. Services were held with hafh.org
