Eugene William 'Gene' Krell

Krell, Eugene William "Gene" Age 68 of Coon Rapids, MN. Eugene peacefully left this Earth on June 21, 2017, summer solstice. He was born December 20, 1948 to Evelyn (Voss) Krell and William Krell, Jr. in Pipestone where he later graduated in 1966. He served in the Air Force for 4 years before marrying the love of his life, Darrnell Nece. Their 4 children were raised in Coon Rapids, MN. Gene's love is unending for his wife, children, grandchildren, and his family. Our family will continue to cherish his love for Pickerel Lake. Gene kept the DMV busy with cars, motorcycles, and watercraft. His grandchildren often said, "Papa can fix it!" Gene's last surprise purchase, a custom golf cart he named "Ruby" will be enjoyed by generations to come. Gene is survived by his loving wife, Darrnell; children, McArthur "MAK", Naomi (Kevin), Elijah, Sashi (Brad); grandchildren who he adored with all his heart, Crystel, Anthony, Mason, Allison, Zachary, Luciana; parents, Evelyn (Voss) and Russell Harmsen; siblings, Mike (Karen) Harmsen, Bev York, Joyce (Carl) Pierret, Vicki (Brad) Quist, Deanna Scott, Kim (Tom) Frazier; many relatives and friends. Preceded in death by his dad, William Krell, Jr.; brothers, Randy Krell and Terry Harmsen. A celebration of Gene's life will be on Saturday, July 8 at 11AM at Sgt. John Rice VFW Post 6316, 1374 - 109th Ave., Blaine, MN 55434 with a luncheon to follow. Please wear Gene's favorite color, red. Memorials preferred to The American Red Cross.
