Anderson, Fred Louis, Sr. Fred Louis Anderson, was the last surviving direct descendant of the Wagner family, and the youngest of six children born to Simon and Mattie Anderson. Fred was born October 6, 1924 and raised in rural Fergus Falls, Minnesota, where he resided until graduating from Fergus Falls high school where he was known as "Stonewall Jackson". He left Fergus to join the armed forces. He served in New Guinea, the Netherlands, East Indies, the Philippine Islands and Japan. After leaving the military, Fred enrolled in college at the University of Minnesota. He continued his education at Dunwoody Institute, majoring in mechanical engineering. Fred married Bernadette Early (deceased) in 1948, and together they raised six children; Fred "Sonny" Jr. (Deceased), Sylvia (Donald) Amos, Edward, Patricia, Linda, and Andre (Katherine) Anderson. He loved music and played bass in several local trios but his first love was his family and he sacrificed his dream of being a professional musician to raise and provide for his family, that sense of responsibility lead him to find steady employment which he found working for the Postal Service for 20 years and then for several years he was employed at Control Data, where he retired. Fred also loved hunting, fishing, and crafted expert duck decoys, duck boats, bows & arrows. Fred has 20 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, and 10 great great grandchildren. Fred passed on June 22, 2014 at the age of 89. Services will be held on Monday, June 30, 2014 at Greater Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, 1800 Dupont Ave. No., Minneapolis.
