Carlson, Richard C., "Swede", "Dickster" Dick passed peacefully on June 3, 2017 with Cookie and daughter Cathy holding his hands. He was 79 years old. He was employed at the Star Tribune for 37 1/2 years starting as a plate boy, when he retired he was the press room Manager. Dick loved his job, his family and living and boating on Lake Minnetonka. Dick was a honest and hard working man who conducted his life with loyalty up to the very end. Dick is survived by his wife, Cookie; his two daughters, Cathy (Chris) Wirz and Cami (Bill) Kuhbander; stepchildren, Kelly Sarenpa and Marty Sarenpa; grandchildren, Joey (Elizabeth) Kuhbander, Katie Kuhbander, Sophia Sarenpa, Oshie Valenta and Jack Sarenpa; many friends and colleagues. In the spirit of Dicks love of sports for youth, please consider a donation to the Minnesota Twins charity for youth. Dick was preceded in death by his son Rick and former wife Diane. Memorial service will be held on June 27th 2017 at the Old Log Theater, Excelsior Minnesota. Visitation at 11 A.M. with a service to follow.
