Milliman, Michael P. Age 69, a longtime resident of Minneapolis, passed away Saturday October 29, at Gosnell Hospice in Scarborough, Maine, with family nearby. He was born on March 29, 1947, in Minneapolis, the son of Harold A. and Grace G Milliman. He was a 1965 graduate of De La Salle High School and also attended the University of Minnesota. Michael worked for many years at restaurants on Minneapolis's West Bank and downtown, and later was a wine salesman and manager in Portland, Maine. He traveled to California and to Europe to visit vineyards and winemakers and was noted for his knowledge of wine among the restaurant community in Portland and the Maine vacation coast. Intelligent and charismatic, he was devoted to the people and the things he loved, including canoeing in the Boundary Waters, fishing, drives along the Maine coast with his mother, his sister's Cape Cod cottages, gardening, reading, and book collecting. He was an avid follower of the Boston Red Sox and Notre Dame football. For a period he lived abroad in Paris and Senegal. He is survived by his sister Rosemary, of North Bergen, NJ, brother Patrick, of Norwalk, CT, niece Hayley of Memphis, TN, and nephew, Nick, of Boston, MA. A memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 20 from 11 AM to 2 PM at Town and Country Club in St. Paul.
