Gilbertson, Sandra Johanna (nee: Swenson) Age 80, of Champlin passed away peacefully on April 12, 2017. Born June 24, 1936, she graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1954. Sandy married Robert Gilbertson and had four children. Family, friends and faith were her priorities. Sandy was known for her witty sense of humor, her friendly and welcoming demeanor and her beautifully hand-stamped greeting cards that often included original poetry. She baked and decorated Norwegian Kransekake cakes for all family baptisms and weddings, and making lefsa was a Christmas tradition. Throughout her life, she enjoyed trips to the family cabin on Stark Lake, living on the Mighty Mississippi, and sharing her love of reading. Sandy is survived by her four children: Dale (Barb) Gilbertson, Wendy (Tim) Loberg, Deanne Alexander, and Russell (Debra) Gilbertson. She leaves 10 loving grandchildren, 5 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Smiley. Three additional great grandchildren will arrive this summer. She was preceded in death by husband, Robert; brother, Louis; parents, Sara and Louis; and son-in-law, David Alexander. A Celebration of Sandy's life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on May 4th, 2017 at Servant of Christ Lutheran Church in Champlin, 740 E. Hayden Lake Rd. Luncheon to follow. Visitation is one hour prior. Private interment at Crystal Lake Cemetery. Memorials preferred to Servant of Christ Lutheran Church.
