Hinz, Wally MASS TIME ADDED BELOW Passed away suddenly March 29, 2017, from injuries sustained in a fall. Survived by loving and devoted wife, Karen, daughter Katie (David) Brenke, granddaughters Emmie and Hannah, grandsons Jacob and Sully, siblings Bob, Bill (Cathy), Mary (John) Rhoades, Jim (Candy), Joe, Pat (Dave) Linell, Teresa Isenor, Charlie (Judy), sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Warren (Mary Penly) Anderson, Jill (Heidi Maghan) Anderson, Kris (Dan) Johnson, 20 nieces and nephews, and countless dear friends. Almost 40 years ago (3/30/1977) a car accident took Wally's sight, but it didn't take away his sense of humor and love of people. Wally had a special gift of joy and was an inspiration to everyone who met him. Wally's memory of the past was truly remarkable. His stories were legendary, his detail awe-inspiring. He loved to find the common thread with anyone and link it to a tale from long ago. We all have a Wally story to share, preferably over a beer. He was a proud De LaSalle Islander who remained an active alum. After he lost his sight, he cherished his Monday morning golf games. Wally's final gift was to donate his eyes for transplant or research. To know Wally was to love him. Words can't express how much he will be missed.
