Brandon, Dr. Suzanne age 88, passed on March 23, 2017 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She is survived by children: Donna Eldora Redhead (Richard Bubel), Eric Slaton and Ellen Slaton; by grandchildren: David Sandberg (Angel Buchannan), Kristina Sand-berg (Olaf Gustafson), Jennifer Sandberg, and Mark, Reba, and Miles Brown and Evan, Seth, and Micah Slaton; and by great grand-children: Pierce, Kaeden, and Dahlia Sandberg, Merrick and Emily Stacy, Soren and Ever Sandberg-Gustaf-son, and Lakesha Brown; by brother Delbert Brandon, and by her faithful companions and caregivers Sonja Alley and Rebekah Keren. Pre-deceased by husband, Paul Slaton; sons Daniel Stordock and David Briggs; daughter Margaret Brown; by brothers James Brewer and Robert Brandon; by parents James and Annabelle Brandon. Overcoming many obstacles, she earned a PhD and JD at a later age and went on to teach Sociology, Law, and Women's Studies at College of St. Catherine and the University of Minnesota for many years. She also had her own law practice (Brandon Law Office); was a real estate broker and insurance broker. Throughout her life, she was involved with many civic activities and ran for the Minnesota Legislature in 1986. No matter where Suzanne went or what she did in life, she could get people laughing with sarcastic, salty remarks. We will miss her wit and charm, her generosity, and her love. She was a great woman, a devoted wife, and an outstanding mother and friend. May she go with God. A graveside service will be at 10 AM Monday, March 27 at Temple Israel Memorial Park, 4200 3rd Avenue S, Minneapolis, MN 55409. A memorial service will be held at 2 PM Monday, March 27 at Temple Israel, 2323 Fremont Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55405. In lieu of flowers family asks that donations be made to the Harriet Tubman Center, 3111 First Avenue South, Minneapolis, MN 55408, to honor Dr. Suzanne Brandon's long career as a pioneer professor of Women's Studies and her dedication to the education and safety of women.
