LaVerne Arthur Goehring

Goehring, LaVerne Arthur age 69, of Prior Lake, MN passed away peacefully on March 20, 2017, surrounded by his family. "Vern" was born on July 26, 1947 in Mobridge, SD to Arthur and Erna Goehring. The family eventually settled in St. Paul, MN, where Vern attended school through junior high. When Vern was 15 years old, the family moved to Rapid City, SD, where Vern was a varsity wrestler and also enjoyed participating in band. After high school Vern attended South Dakota School of Mines and Technology. In 1968 Vern married Carole Craig and in 1970 he graduated from college with a BS in Electrical Engineering. Vern proudly served as an officer in the Army from 1970 to 1972, and afterward, Vern and Carole settled in Minnesota where they raised their children. Vern was a dedicated father and grandfather. Vern was preceded in death by his father, Arthur, and sister-in-law, Paula Goehring. Vern is survived by his mother, Erna, the mother of his children Carole Goehring, his three sons, Lee (Lisa) Goehring, Wayzata, MN, Jeffrey Goehring, Chaska, MN, and Karl (Laura) Goehring, Grand Forks, ND, his older brother Jerald, Katy, Texas, and his younger sister Pamela (Terry) Eck, Alliance, NE. Vern is also survived by his grandchildren whom he loved dearly, Carly, Leah, Halle, Lily, Arthur, Aurora; many other relatives & friends. Celebration of life will be from 4-7pm Monday, April 3rd at the Mpls/Richfield American Legion Post 435, 6501 Portland Ave S., Richfield MN.
