Dvorak, George Herman "Sonny", Sr. age 84, of Montgomery, died on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at Mala Strana Health Care in New Prague. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 8 from 10am- 11:30am with Celebration of Life following at 11:30am all being held at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Montgomery. Burial will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis. George was born on September 9, 1932 in Buffalo, New York to George and Mayme (Herman) Dvorak. George was a 1950 graduated from Montgomery High School, attended Dunwoody, received a BS Degree in Engineering and a Masters degree from the U of M. He was united in marriage to Dorothy Elizabeth (Pasek) Dvorak on April 23, 1953 in New Prague. George served in Korea with the US Army from 1953-1955. George was a Procurement Manager for Aviation for Honeywell in Minneapolis for over 30+ years until his retirement in 1992. He was a past Mayor of Montgomery, member of the Montgomery City Council, member of the Civil Defense of Montgomery, past commander of the American Legion for 6 years, and a lifetime member of VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing concertina. George is survived by wife, Dorothy Dvorak of Montgomery; children, George Jr. (Janita) Dvorak of St. Bonifacious, Jayne (Kent) Buck, Mary (special friend Jim Pettit) Stanke of Montgomery; grandchildren, Brianna Buck, Morgen Buck, Katie Eotvos (Jeromy), and Addison Stanke; great-grandchild, Carter Eotvos; brother, Wayne (Nan) Dvorak of Edina. George is preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Maranda Stanke; and son-in-law, Mike Stanke. Military honors will be provided by the Montgomery Area Honor Guard.
