Taylor, Mary (Morgan) 85, a resident of Lunenburg for more than 50 years, passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 21 at Heritage Park Rehab and Skilled Nursing in Jamestown, NY. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 27 years, John 'Pat' M. Taylor in 1983 and her beloved granddaughter, Natalie in 2015. Mary leaves behind one daughter, Peggy Taylor of Evans, GA; four sons, John Taylor (Shelly) of Jamestown, NY, William 'Bill' Taylor (Kristen Bey) of North Oxford, MA, Joseph Taylor (Julie) of Oceanside, CA and Jim Taylor (Tara) of Dacula, GA; five grandchildren, Erin, Audrey, Quinn, Dekota, and Aspen; one brother, Frank Morgan (Carol) of Bloomington, MN, and several nieces and nephews. Mary was born in St. Paul, MN, on September 13, 1931, the daughter of the late Frank and Dorothy (McCarthy) Morgan. She was raised in northern Minnesota's Iron Range in the town of Biwabik where her father worked for the railroad. At 17, she left to attend the University of Wisconsin-Superior where she earned a bachelor's degree in Education. Mary then moved to Beloit, WI. She taught Kindergarten before marrying Pat Taylor and starting a family. In 1963, Mary and Pat moved to Lunenburg and lived on Rolling Acres Road for the next five decades. In 2015, Mary sold her home and moved to Jamestown, NY to live near her son John and his family. Mary worked at Conrad's Drive-In Seafood in Lunenburg in the 1970s and later at Marshall's in Leominster for more than 10 years. She was also a long-time member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Lunenburg and a member of the Lunenburg Senior Center where she regularly volunteered. Mary was a voracious reader and is known to have read more than five thousand books throughout her lifetime. She also enjoyed sewing, crafting, bowling and watching sports of all kinds. Mary was fiercely independent and lived life as she pleased. She will be dearly missed. Mary's funeral will be held on Monday, Feb. 27 from the Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Mass Ave., Lunenburg, MA with a Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 817 Mass Ave., Lunenburg. Calling hours will held on Monday, Feb. 27 from 9 to 10:45 a.m. in the Funeral Home. Burial will take place in the spring at the South Cemetery, Lunenburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at stjude.org in Mary's name or may be left at the funeral home.
