Quinn, Joseph C. Passed away February 18, 2017. He is survived by his wife, Rita, of 66 years, three sons, Robert (Melanie), Thomas (Linda), Timothy (Tamara), and daughter Theresa (William) and three grandchildren, Bailey Lundberg, Andrew Esgaard, and Jennie Esgaard (Nick), brother, Pete (Kate), and sister Betty Ann Chapin; also many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by son James, parents; brothers, Harold, Pat and Mike and sister Mary. Joe managed the farm in DeGraff, MN until he entered the Navy, serving four years overseas. Upon his discharge Joe was employed at Koch oil refinery for almost 35 years and began his union activities as a steward until elected President of Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union and served for 6 years. He also served as President of District Six Council and the National Oil District Six Bargaining Committee, National Chairman for the Rank and File Merger Committee with the United Paper Workers Union. He was a Delegate at Large and Trustee to the Local Union and Delegate to the Southern Dakota County Labor Council of the AFL/CIO. Joe was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He unselfishly enjoyed helping others and had a passion for coaching his five children in softball and baseball for 15 years. His interests were: dancing, traveling, playing cards, doing mechanical work, carpentry, electrical, plumbing and could generally fix anything. Joe was an avid mall walker since 1992 and was a 4th Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus. Joe enjoyed flying and obtained a Private Pilots License in 1957, flying Cesnas, Cubs and Pacers. He was a faithful member of St. Bonaventure Caltholic Church. A special thank you to the Minneapolis VA, Aseracare Hospice, Edina Care Center, and friend, Carol Swenson for their care and compassion. Visitation will be Friday, February 24, at 10:00 am at St. Bonavature Catholic Church, Bloomington. Memorial service at 11:00 am. Luncheon to follow. Final resting place will be Ft. Snelling National Cemetery. Arrangements by National Cremation & Burial Society.
