Perpich, Tony J., D.D.S. of Shoreview, MN, died January 28, 2017. Survived by wife of 56 years, Irene (Kosiak) Perpich, M.D., daughter Julia Perpich, M.D., (Greg Damberg, M.D.), grandchildren Niklas, Juliana, Kaarl, brothers George Perpich, D.D.S., and Joe Perpich, M.D. Preceded in death by parents Anton Perpich and Mary Vukelich, brother Rudy Perpich, sister Marion. Tony was born on 2/10/1932, at home in Carson Lake, MN, a mining location on Minnesota's Iron Range. Product of the Hibbing, MN school system, he graduated from Marquette University Dental School in 1955. Member of U.S. Air Force with duty as a dental officer in the Far East. Practiced dentistry in Virginia, MN for 22 years. Elected to the MN State Senate, representing the eastern part of the Iron Range, from 1967 througth the 1976 session, retiring as Chairman of the Senate Tax Committee. In the 1980's he was a Commissioner in the Energy Department. Founding member of Anderson- Grittner Legislative Friends; Life member of MN Dental Association; member Eveleth, MN Elks; First Unitarian Society of Mpls; American Civil Liberties Union. Tony was a skilled carpenter. He built the major portion of two family homes (Eveleth and North Branch, MN) and a year round cabin in Northwestern Ontario, Canada. Private family services at St. Peter and St. Paul Russian Orthodox Church, Bramble, MN.
