Winters, Harry H. Age 86 of Excelsior, MN passed away peacefully on January 24, 2017 after a brief illness. He was born in Davenport, Iowa, attended Davenport High School and graduated from St. Ambrose University. Harry married Shirley Reimers in 1952. He went on to serve in the Korean War. He returned and began a long and successful 31 year career with Northwestern Bell and AT&T. His career brought him to Minnesota in 1959 where he and Shirley formed lifelong friends both in Temple Village and Clear Springs. Harry loved his time on Lake Minnetonka including boating, fishing with the grandchildren, and the wonderful 4th of July celebrations. He also enjoyed his Bogey golf league and Cottagewood tennis group. In his later years he loved volunteering in the after school program, working with students at Minnetonka Middle School West. He was passionate about sports and especially loved his Iowa Hawkeyes and the Minnesota Vikings. He was devoted to his family and taught them to be resilient, to work hard and to approach life with a sense of humor. Harry was preceded in death by parents, Wyatt Winters and Marie Archer, and beloved grandson Alex Odt. He is survived by loving wife of 64 years, Shirley; his children, Susan (Nelson) Odt, and Laurie (Mark) Jeter; grandchildren, Liza (Joel) Heinen, Wyatt , Maggie, and Anna Jeter; great grandchildren, Jude and Izaak Heinen. Memorial Service 11 AM on Monday Jan. 30, 2017 at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church, 301 County Road 19 in Excelsior, with visitation one hour prior. Lunch to follow service. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Pulmonary Hypertension Association (PHA), 801 Roeder Road, Ste. 1000, Silver Spring, MD 20910.
