Whealy, Betty Carol age 80, of Naples, FL and Plymouth, passed away peacefully on December 7, 2016. She was preceded in death by parents Geneva and Allen Gee of Frankfort, KY. Survived by husband of 59 years, John, and sons Mark (Bev) North Webster, IN, Allen (Tamma) Medina and Chris (Shannon), Plymouth. Grandchildren Jason King, Nicolette (Will) Weil, Andi (Jeremy) Widbin, Blythe, Miles and Connor, and great granddaughter Alaythia. She loved her two church families: Messiah Methodist in Plymouth (45 years) and Wesley Methodist in Marco Island, FL (26 years), especially the women's circles, and drove for Meals on Wheels for many years. Betty Carol majored in accounting at Eastern University in Richmond, KY. Although she worked outside the home only briefly, she was the family bookkeeper and did this wonderfully along with everything else that makes a home. Growing up an only child, her only sports connection was basketball cheerleader. But with three boys and a sports-loving husband, this all changed. She learned to bowl, ice skate, cross-country ski, downhill ski, water ski as well as survive a somersaulting Hobie Cat sailboat. She also learned to play golf. In 2000, she and John set out to play golf in all 50 states. They made it to 49. She was also a fantastic letter writer. Her in-laws were fond of saying that they'd get one page from John saying a week was uneventful, only to receive nine pages from Betty Carol a few days later telling them what really happened. She was a kind and gentle person loved by all who knew her. The family thanks the many friends who visited so faithfully, provided rides to treatments and were always there for her. The family wants to especially thank the staff of The Birches of Trillium Woods for their excellent and loving care of Betty Carol. A celebration of Betty Carol's life will be held at 11am on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at Messiah United Methodist Church, 17805 County Rd 6, Plymouth 55447. Visitation from 10-11am. In lieu of flowers, donations preferred to graceplacenaples.org, where John and Betty Carol taught English as a second language for the past several years.
