Smith, Richard W. "Dick" age 83, of Champlin, passed away Dec. 8, 2016. Preceded in death by daughter, Mary Elizabeth; sons, Gregory J. and Brian J.; grandchildren, Dane D. and Kaitlin E. Bakker and brother, John. Survived by wife of 34 years, Carol; sons, Kevin (Carol), Patrick (LaJeana); daughters-in-law, Paula and Jodi Smith; stepsons, Timothy, James, Kenneth (Linda) Folley; grandchildren Kevin, Derek, Shayna, Sonya, Shelby, Joshua, Bailey, Austin; stepgrandchildren Shannyn, Ben, Ryan, Joshua, Sean, Rayja; 3 great-grandchildren, Kayden, Eleanor and Allister; sister, Mary (Patrick) Gallagher; special friend, John Wangensteen. Edison High School graduate, U.S. Army veteran. Retired from Barton Contracting. In his retirement, Richard drove MTC bus and senior transportation. Memorial service Friday, Dec. 16, 11 AM, Servant of Christ Church, 740 E. Hayden Lake Road, Champlin. Interment Fort Snelling Cemetery. Visitation one hour prior to service at church.
