Ugland, Dr. Richard P. Age 82, of Mpls., passed away December 3, 2016. Preceded in death by parents, Arthur Ugland and Harriet (nee Spellum) Proctor, and brother Theodore (Ted). Richard (Dick) graduated from Hamline University (1956) and earned his Ed.D. degree from the University of Minnesota (1976). He was program director at three rehabilitation facilities in Minnesota before becoming a professor at Mankato State University (now Minnesota State University) in the M.A. program in Rehabilitation Counseling. He was later promoted to full professor and served as chair of the department. During the last 15 years of his career, he served as an expert witness and consultant for lawyers and firms in Minnesota and surrounding states. Survived by wife of 56 years Phyllis Patricia; daughters Julie Trask (Jon), Dr. Molli Rolli (Brian Hicks), Dr. Jane Cerhan (Dr. James); son Dr. Erik Ugland (Melissa); grandchildren Matthew Barnard, Daniel Barnard, Nathan Rolli, Alison Rolli (Joe Keuler), Peter Cerhan, Leah Cerhan, Jack Cerhan, Ella Ugland and August Ugland; great-granddaughter Leona Keuler; sisters Mitzi Schumacher and Judi Potter; and brother Gerald. A memorial service will be held on January 14, 2017, at Walker Methodist Place (3701 Bryant Ave. S.) in Minneapolis, beginning at 1:00 p.m. with reception to follow. Memorials preferred to Hamline University or the Minnesota chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
