Summers, Anne Louise (Gessner) Age 59, of Mpls., died in Zephyrhills, FL on November 26, 2016 of injuries sustained on Thanksgiving Day when she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle. Preceded in death by parents Ruth and Art Gessner. Survived by husband, Craig; daughter Yaasika Quist and her partner Jonah; their much-loved and anticipated child due in January; sons, David and Michael Amarvi; granddaughter, Ivy-Anne; step-children Rachel and Terrance (Brianna) and their child Brayden; sister Beth (Tim) Sullivan; brother, John Gessner; cousins, Pat, Dawn, and George Gessner; Paul (Bridget) and David Jorstad, and many other relatives and friends. She graduated from the University of Minnesota, Morris in 1983 with a degree in economics. She was a 34-year employee of Thomson Reuters who began with the company as technical support when it was still West Publishing. The company kept her on through multiple acquisitions and reorganizations; by the time of her death, she had managed many teams of engineers, most of whom were men. She loved orchids, alpine plants, gardening, pottery, art, jewelry, sculpture, artists, cooking, Madeline Island, Maiden Rock, WI, the Smiling Pelican Bakery, the Florida Keys, Paris, travel, reggae, yoga, the Sierra Nevada World Music Festival, Trader Joe's, Moses the dog, and most of all, her family and friends. She spent 15 wonderful years with the love of her life, Craig Summers. She was so proud of her children and made their friends her own friends and children. She created family wherever she was. If she met you, she liked you; if she liked you, she loved you. A memorial service will be held at the First Evangelical Free Church, 5150 Chicago Avenue South, Minneapolis, Minnesota, 55417 at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016. Memorials preferred to the Ruth and Art Gessner Memorial Endowed Fund at the Inver Hills Foundation (inverhills.edu/foundation/), or to the donor's favorite charity.
