Robbins, William E. age 91, longtime resident of Bloomington, MN died peacefully on November 4, 2016 after a rich & fulfilling life devoted to family, church & community. Bill was born in California to Myrtle (Hagen) and William E. Robbins Sr. He served in the 3102 Signal Corps in India and China during WWII. He earned a BA-Accounting (University of Redlands 1949) and MBA (American University 1966). His career in finance brought him to several organizations, including Control Data and the local ELCA Synod office. These opportunities brought moves to New York (where he met his bride), Illinois, Maryland, Georgia and Minnesota. There the family of 6 joined Transfiguration Lutheran Church in 1972. His church service included councilman, educator, usher, lector, treasurer, choir member, and numerous committees. He is remembered for his dry wit, kindness, baritone voice, intelligence, compassion, inclusion for all, organization skills and willingness to do whatever was needed. Bill & Carol Fraas married in 1952. They loved to travel and learn, taking the growing family camping in national parks/historic sites. Travel broadened to Europe, Asia & Central America after retirement. He loved history, reading, classical music, theater, opera, photography, gardening, new technology, DIY projects and dancing with Carol. Over the past decade, Bill doggedly battled Alzheimer's with courage and grace, with Carol always by his side. They were grateful for the compassionate care received from Brookdale Edina staff for the past 3 years as his capabilities declined. Survived by wife Carol and children Beverly (Charles) Aurand, Craig (Lisa) Robbins, Linda (Bob) Lach, Carolyn (Stephen) Paetzel and grandchildren Hannah (Adam Lewis) Aurand, Lydia Aurand, Chris Robbins, Sam (Laura) Robbins, Kelly Robbins, Allie Lach, Jim Lach, Christina (Kadie) Gutierrez and Justin Paetzel. Visitation 1011 AM with Funeral Service at 11 AM on Wed., Nov. 9 at Transfiguration Lutheran Church, 11000 France Ave. S., Bloomington. Memorials may be given to Alzheimer's Association.
