Cohen, Jonathan Francis Jonathan Cohen of Prior Lake, chemist, bridge fanatic, weather observer, music lover, Twins and Vikings fan, loving and beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, died Tuesday, 14 September 2016. He was born 9 February 1947 in New York City, graduated from Cornell University in 1967, and received his PhD in organic chemistry from Columbia University in 1971. He married Barbara Nolan in 1981 and the following year they moved to Minnesota, where he found the climate greatly to his liking (although he complained in recent years about the lack of snow). He was associated with the University of Minnesota from 1982 until 2014, most recently with the Center for Drug Design. Jonathan was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Hermaine (Kurtz) Cohen, and an infant brother. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, their daughter Ilana Cohen and her husband, Craig Bierle, and grandchildren Nolan and Clara Bierle; his brother Harlan Cohen and his wife, Patricia Salas; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Bonnie and Robert Reid; nieces Aliza and Julia Cohen and nephews Kevin and Brendan Reid. A memorial service will be held at the Cremation Society of Minnesota, 7110 France Avenue South, Edina, MN 55435 on Monday, 19 September 2016, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Memorials to the Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, or the American Contract Bridge League Educational Foundation, 6575 Windchase Blvd, Horn Lake, MS 38637-1523.
